Emergency First Aid

How to assess the incident, notifying emergency services

Course duration

A one day course which can be run inhouse if wanted. The certification lasts for 3 years before refreshing is needed.

First Aid at Work

The course explained:
  • Suffering from shock
  • Wounded & bleeding
  • Choking
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious, including seizure
  • Assess the situation & circumstances in order to act safely, promptly & effectively in an emergency
  • Understand the role of the first aider including reference to the importance of preventing cross infection; the need for recording incidents & actions & the use of available equipment
  • Provide first aid for injuries including Injuries to bones, muscles & joints, including suspected spinal injuries, chest injuries, burns, scalds & eye injuries
  • Sudden poisoning & anaphylactic shock
  • Recognise the presence & provide appropriate first aid for major illness including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma & diabetes.
Course duration

This is a three-day course, which needs to be refreshed every 3 years to keep your certificate valid.

The requalification refresher is a two-day course.
