NRoSO

A half day course

This is a half day course to update qualified operators with a different subject offered each year, such as spraying procedures, products, environmental issues, new technology.

10 NRoSO CPD points are offered for attending and 6 BASIS points.

PA1 – Safe use of pesticides, foundation module

Course Duration

One day’s theory training followed with a one hour assessment given by an NPTC assessor at a later date

• Legislation
• How to understand Product Labels
• Personal Protective Equipment needed and why
• How to deal with contamination
• Storage of pesticides safely
• How to transport pesticides safely
• How to dispose of contaminated containers and PPE
• Record keeping
• Environmental awareness and safety
• Water protection

PA2 – Hydraulic nozzle boom sprayer

PA1 must be passed before PA2 can be taken

The course duration

One day’s theory and practical training, followed by an assessment at a later date with an NPTC assessor.

The course explained

• Legislation
• Understanding the label information
• Environment risks
• Preparing the sprayer for use
• How to work out the correct calibrations
• Different types of nozzles and their uses
• Chemical mixing and filling the sprayer
• Cleaning of the machinery
• Maintenance and storage of the machine
• Record keeping

PA4 S or PA4 G – Safe use of Slug Pellets or Granular application

PA1 must be passed before PA4 S or PA4 G can be taken
